Betoch Tocho |

Literally: Inside the inside
Betoch means in or inside as in "V'eitz chaim betoch hagan" - The tree of life was in the garden. As in many languages, when a word is repeated, its meaning is strengthened. My kids favorite book, up to age of 6, was "I'll fix Anthony." It was all about a kid (under 6 years old) whose brother always picked on him. Each time after getting picked on or clobbered, he repeats "When I am six, I'll fix Anthony." Anyway, one section of the story deals with the love that is there even though he is angry at his brother. His mother tries to convince him that deep down inside, he really does love his brother. In Hebrew we would say that the love is "Betoch tocho." Of course it usually takes until the age of 20 for kids to realize it. |
