Literally: It went down to the government treasury
Idiomatically: Down the drain; Lost forever

If there is one phrase which really makes sense to all of us, it is this one. The word "Timyon" is found in the midrash (Vayikra Raba 19) and is also found in a slightly different version, "Yatza LeTimyon" in the Talmud (Succah 29b). The obvious idea here is that anything the government takes for taxes is a lost cause. Evidently our sages had a sense of humor.
